Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (SEAH)

The Malaysian AIDS Council and Malaysian AIDS Foundation are committed to creating and maintaining a safe environment free from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (SEAH). We will implement appropriate measures to protect the communities we serve through a comprehensive framework for preventing and responding to SEAH.

We are dedicated to ensuring that all concerns, suspicions, or incidents of SEAH are treated with the utmost seriousness. We have zero tolerance for inaction and will ensure that every concern, complaint, or report is addressed fairly and reasonably.

Sexual Exploitation

Is the actual or threatened abuse of a position of vulnerability, differential power, or trust, for sexual purposes, including, but not limited to, profiting monetarily, socially or politically from the sexual exploitation of another.

Examples

  • A manager threatening an employee to block their wages unless they concede to sexual acts.
  • Giving services, goods or incentives in exchange for sexual activity

Sexual Abuse

Is the actual or threatened physical intrusion or a sexual nature, whether by force or under unequal or coercive conditions.

Examples

  • Threatening a colleague or a beneficiary with sex act
  • Rape or attempted rape
  • Any sexual activity with a child

Sexual Harassment

Is any unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature that might reasonably be expected or perceived to cause offence of humiliation. May involve any conduct of a verbal, non-verbal or physical nature, including written and electronic communications

Examples

  • Displaying or sending unsolicited images of a sexual nature.
  • A healthcare worker who comments on a patient’s appearance, where such comment is unwanted.
  • Grabbing, fondling, or petting, where such touch is unwanted.

If you experience any form of sexual exploitation, abuse or harassment (SEAH)

while working with or engaging with the Malaysian AIDS Foundation, Malaysian AIDS Council, or any of our partner organizations, you can submit your complaint through our whistleblower form.

We have established a safe, confidential, and accessible mechanism for representatives, partners, stakeholders, beneficiaries, and communities, including children, to report SEAH allegations and other safeguarding complaints.
