The Malaysian AIDS Council and its 42 partner organisations across Malaysia welcome the appointment of YBhg Datuk Dr Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan as the new Health Director- General, Ministry of Health Malaysia.
The appointment of YBhg Datuk Dr Muhammad Radzi comes at a crucial time for our health care systems in Malaysia when it comes to HIV and AIDS. We look forward to working with him in his new role as Health Director-General on our shared objective of ending AIDS thus achieving our SDGs.
Together with our partner organisations, we call upon Datuk Dr Muhammad Radzi’s support to further strengthen and sustain political commitment to primary HIV prevention and establish accountability for delivering services at scale in order to stop new HIV infections here in Malaysia.
Datuk Dr Muhammad Radzi previously served as consultant physician and gastroenterologist at Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah in Kedah, a major public specialist referral centre in northern peninsular Malaysia, and was head of its Clinical Research Centre. He officially starts his new role effective April 21, 2023.
